This webpage contains materials from the Sephardic Pizmonim Project, coordinated by David Betesh. The Gabriel A. Shrem Pizmonim CD project is the first of many projects devoted to the preservation and dissemination of Sephardic Pizmonim and Hazzanut. This all inclusive effort contains approximately 265 pizmonim from the Sephardic community Pizmonim book edited by Gabriel Shrem, Shir Ushbaha Hallel veZimrah - שיר ושבחה הלל וזמרה. There are many efforts being made now in order to preserve the pizmonim (songs) of which we have no recordings. The Pizmonim Preservation Checklist, found below, is an effort to save the melodies of many pizmonim that are known only to a handful of people around the world. To date, Joseph Mosseri, Morris Arking, Mickey Kairey, Isaac Cabasso, Hakham Mordechai Nadaf, and Mrs. Rosy Hamaoui have been the main contributors to this part of the project. Below, are recordings that they have made available to help preserve many lesser-known pizmonim. As more recordings accumulate, they will be posted on this website.
